WE KNOW THE PROJECTS QUALIFIED FOR DOC LAB POLAND
Submissions for this year's DOC LAB POLAND - the largest consulting programme for documentary film-makers in Poland - are no longer accepted. To the two components: START - for projects at an advanced stage of development and GO - for projects at the stage of editing, a total of 53 films were submitted. Below, we present the list of the qualified projects.
Among the participants of the workshops, there are very experienced film-makers: Aleksandra Maciuszek (the Golden Horn and the Silver Hobby-horse at KFF, numerous awards in the world for "Casa Blanca," the Silver Dragon at KFF, awards in San Sebastian, at Vision du Reel and in Havana for the film "Previous Scenes"). Projects were submitted also by Tomasz Śliwiński and Magda Hueckel, nominated for the Academy Award for "Our Curse"; Agnieszka Zwiefka, awarded for her documentary musical, among others, in Krakow (the Silver Horn), at the festivals Flahertiana, New Horizons and others; the excellent cameraman Kacper Lisowski (co-operated, among others, with Paweł Łoziński, Rolland Joffe, Dorota Kędzierzawska and Paweł Pawlikowski); Edyta Wróblewska, frequently awarded at festivals ("Small Instruments," "The Girl from the Reading Primer," "PRL de luxe") and many others.
Also experienced producers will present their projects. The represented companies include, among others, LAVA FILMS, SHIPsBOY, Jacek Bławut Film Production, AUTOGRAF, Cracow Film Society, KOI and others.
"We had a lot of submissions this year and it was very comfortable to choose. We could select documentary film projects of the highest quality that met the criteria of our programme, says Adam Ślesicki, the director of DOC LAB POLAND. "The selection panel paid attention not only to an interesting subject matter and protagonists, but also to the extent to which the project is already developed. There were a lot of interesting ideas which were at a too early stage. International potential was also an important criterion, because the projects will be shown during Krakow Film Festival to experts from abroad in hope of finding co-producers or distributors."
