DOCUMENTARY FILM FESTIVALS IN APRIL

This month, we can expect the full bloom of festival screenings. Polish documentary films will appear, among others, at the festival Crossing Europe in Austria or at the prestigious Hot Docs in Canada.

Some festivals, the fruits of which we saw at the beginning of April, started in March. At the festival Docudays in Ukraine, the following films were shown: "Brothers" by  Wojciech Staroń, "Casa Blanca" by Aleksandra Maciuszek, "Call Me Marianna" by Karolina Bielawska and "The End of the World" by Monika Pawluczuk. The last two films returned from Kiev with awards.

In the last days of March started also the following festivals: Cleveland in the USA, where appears the documentary film "Invisible" by Zofia Pręgowska, "Kino Pavasaris" in Lithuania, in which the films "Piano" by Vita Maria Drygas,"A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec and "Alarm Clock" by Piotr Małecki will participate and the American festival AMDOCS, during which "The End of the World" and  "Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec will be shown. The documentary film by Czepiec will also be present at the Atlanta Film Festival.

This month, three festival screenings are in store for the film "Snails" by Grzegorz Szczepaniak. The documentary film will be shown in Brazil at the festival It’s All True, at Crossing Europe in Austria and Go Short in the Netherlands. "Object" by Paulina Skibińska will also compete for the awards in Nijmegen.

In April, apart from "Piano," one can also watch the previous documentary film by Vita Maria Drygas – "Knife in the Wife," which was included in the programme of the Cheap Cuts festival in Great Britain. In the second half of the month, two Polish documentary films will be shown to the viewers in the United States: "Invisible" will be shown in Nashville, and "Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak at the festival New Port Beach.

Polish films will also be shown in Europe: "A Documentary Film" will appear at Finale Plzen in the Czech Republic, and "Jurek" by Paweł Wysoczański, "K2. Touching the Sky" by Eliza Kubarska and "The Place" by Julia Popławska at the Trento Film Festival in Italy. Polish documentary film will also reach Egypt – "Cheerleaders" by Sławomir Witek will be shown at the Ismailia festival.

At the end of the month starts one of the most important documentary film festivals, Hot Docs in Canada. There, as many as four Polish films will be shown: "Brothers" by Wojciech Staroń, "Last Season" by Sławomir Witek, "Before the dawn" by Łukasz Borowski and "All these sleepless nights" by Michał Marczak.
