"THAT'S LIFE" NOMINATED FOR THE GOLDEN KEY AWARD

From 290 submitted films only 14 were nominated for The Golden Key founded by the city of Kassel in Germany. Daniel Zieliński’s documentary film will also be competing for the award that is given during the Dokfest festival.

On the map of international film events Kassel Documentary Film & Video Festival occupies a major position in terms of the presentation of documentary film, and the discussion on its art. The organisers pay special attention to the films made by young artists; they support new talents through the Golden Key award.

Films nominated for The Golden Key are selected from among hundreds. This year 14 documentary films have received the nominations, including "That's life ..." by Daniel Zieliński.

The winner of the Golden Key will be announced on 13th Nov during the closing ceremony of Kassel Documentary Film & Video Festival (8-13 November).

Daniel Zieliński's film depicts a beautiful and strong bond between an ailing older woman and her son who sacrificed his family life and professional career so far to take care of his mother. It depicts their everyday existence, pervaded by sensitivity and extreme care, when simple activities such as washing or dressing up require a lot of time and effort on the part of the sick woman and her son, too. Filled with immense love for his mother, at the same time the man begins to feel resentment towards the people around him. In his conversation with one of his sons the father reveals that he misses support from close family members. Will a family meeting become an opportunity to mend such fragile relations?
