"MISS HOLOCAUST" AT BERLINALE

On January 9, the list of films which will participate in Berlinale Shorts, the competition section at the International Film Festival in Berlin, was announced. Among them, there is the documentary film "Miss Holocaust" by Michalina Musielak.

Berlinale Shorts is the section of the festival in Berlin, dedicated to short films. This year, 23 films from 19 countries of the world will compete in the competition. The film by Michalina Musielak is a Polish-German co-production.

"Elderly women prepare for an important event. They learn to move in an appropriate way, they are given numbers and want to succeed. These are the women who survived the Holocaust, and the ceremony, in which they participate, is a Beauty Contest. Glamour, the applause of the audience and the crown - in general, that is what such events are about. But not this time. Now, the participants have a very important message to pass to the world," write the film-makers.

The project of the film was developed within the frames of DOC LAB POLAND and presented in Krakow during the pitching Docs to Start.

The co-author of the script is Monika Dembińska, and the film was co-directed by Irena Siedlar. The author of the cinematography is Beata Rakoczy. The film's producers are Karolina Galuba and Małgorzata Małysa from Furia Film. The German co-producer of the motion picture is the company Juno Film. Michalina Musielak is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Since October 2016, she is a student of Visual Anthropology at the Free University of Berlin (Freie Universität Berlin).

67th International Film Festival in Berlin is held from February 9 to 19. You can find more information about the competition on the website of Berlinale
