"K2. TOUCHING THE SKY" WINS IN SPAIN
On June 25, awards were given at the festival Picurt in Spain. One of them went to Eliza Kubarska for her film "K2. Touching the Sky."
This year, the anniversary, tenth edition of the festival Picurt was held. In 10 years, the festival has grown very much - in this year's edition, there participated 170 films from 24 countries of the world. What does not change, however, is the fact that the Spanish festival concentrates on uniting the lovers of cinema and the mountains.
The Premi Gall Fer Cadí award, given by Jordi Clotet, the director of Cooperativa Cadí, went to Eliza Kubarska for her film "K2. Touching the Sky." The jury appreciated the documentary film for a new perspective on dealing with the loss after the death of the close ones who perished in the mountains.
The film by Eliza Kubarska tells about four people climbing up to the base camp on K2. They go by the same road which was taken years ago by their parents - recognised Alpinists. They try to understand the power which ordered their parents to climb and which finally took their lives in 1986 in the K2 disaster. "Touching the Sky" is an emotional journey with breath-taking views of Karakoram in the background.
