Polish documentaries nominated for PRIX EUROPA
Organizers of PRIX EUROPA – one of the most significant competitions in the environment of european media - have announced the list of nominations. Among 220 selected productions there are three Polish documentaries present.
PRIX EUROPA, an important event aimed mainly at television and radio producers, will be held from 16th to 23th October in Berlin. Awards PRIX EUROPA are granted in nine categories by a jury formed by 1000 professionals from the film industry. The winners of the competition are granted the oportunity of their film’s promotion through distribution and broadcast in european television and radio stationsThis year’s Polish nominees are: „Warsaw available” directed by Karolina Bielawska and Julia Ruszkiewicz, „The edge of Russia” by Michał Marczak and „Komeda- a soundtrack for a life” made by Claudia Buthenhoff-Duffy.
„Warsaw available” by Karolina Bielawska and Julia Ruszkiewicz is a story about hope and seeking for happiness in modern Warsaw seen through the eyes of three young girls originated in the poor Polish village, who travells to the capital city to start a new life.
Border guard base made up from three wooden cottages and eight men working in that military unit – a picture of severe world situated at the edge of the continent, away from the civilisation and human settlements is a subject of Michał Marczak’s interest in this documentary „The edge of Russia”.
„Komeda – a soundtrack of a life” directed by Claudia Buthenhiff – Duffy is a film essay focused on music and life of one of the most outstanding Polish film composers of the sixties.
The list of laureates of this year’s PRIX EUROPA will be announced on 23rd October.
