SUCCESS OF POLISH PROJECTS AT THE EAST DOC PLATFORM
From March 7 to 13, the fifth edition of the East Doc Platform was held in Prague. Some Polish projects participated in the event, and two of them: "Over the limit" by Marta Prus and "The Future of Forever" by Ana Brzezińska were awarded during pitchings.
East Doc Platform is an industry event, dedicated to documentary film, organised by the Institute of Documentary Film in Prague, accompanying the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.
This year, six Polish projects qualified for the events held within the frames of the East Doc Platform. As many as two of them were awarded.
The project of the film "Over the limit" by Marta Prus participated in the East European Forum, where it competed against eight other productions. In the Czech Republic, the documentary film, produced by Telemark, was given DOK Leipzig Co-Production Market and DOC Preview Award.
"Over the limit" is an intimate portrait of the sportswoman Margarita Mamun. The film documents the crucial year in her life, from the World Cup in 2015 to the Olympic Games in 2016. The gymnast stands the most important chance in her life, to become an Olympic champion, but in order to achieve it she has to compete with her best friend from the same club, Yana Kudryavtseva.
This Polish-German co-production qualified also for the Hot Docs Forum, held in Canada.
The second Polish production, which was awarded at the East Doc Platform, is the interactive project "The Future of Forever." The film, produced by Łukasz Borzecki won id w | interactive documentary workshop Award.
